You'll have all the supplies provided for you at the class, including a basic sketch on an 11x14 canvas, and I'll lead you through this step by step! I'm looking forward to painting with you. Mandala is the spiritual journey.

Mandalas are used in many Eastern spiritual traditions as a tool to aid meditation. In Western culture, mental health counselors often use mandalas as a form of stress relief, a tool for therapy, and meditative exercise.

We will be making Independence Day Mandala on 8x10" white canvas by using American flag colors.

This class is suitable for beginners through advanced, adults and youth ages ten and up.

My name is Skirma. I am a Marketing and Psychology professional, but also found my passion in painting and started applying it to my therapies.

This time I invite you to slow down after all the Christmas activities and spend some time focusing on your feelings, relax and paint your Mandala.

In my early teenage years, I found psychology incredibly interesting and it explains my passion for helping people, training, consulting, and coaching them.

I have been helping people in different parts of the world; Nigeria, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, the UK, Denmark, Lithuania, Ukraine, and USA.

Originally, I am from Lithuania, but now, I and my family live in NY. We love spending time in nature so we are blessed to have this opportunity to come and spend some time in John Day, Oregon.

Meet the Teachers

Angel Carpenter

Hi! My name is Angel Carpenter, and my focus is sharing the joy of art with the community. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Oregon State College (painting and drawing), but my hope is to share fun art, not fine art! My step-by-step lessons are geared toward teaching beginners while also allowing intermediate and advanced artists to join in and take the creative process to whatever level they like, allowing all to enjoy timeout for art with a completed piece to take home.

Kim Randleas

Kim Randleas was born in 1975 in Eastern Oregon. Not being one to shout, her paintings are a soft-spoken tribute to a fleeting moment; a quick glance, an exceptionally interesting cloud formation, or an old house not long for this world. The wide-open spaces, moments of the past, and the nearby Native American tribal culture are common subjects depicted in her paintings.  Kim continues to reside in her home town, Canyon City, Oregon enjoying the beauty and solitude of her home nestled at the base of Canyon Mountain.
