Painted Sky Center for the Arts (PSCA) is raising funds for our new building that houses the art center located at 116 NW Bridge Street in John Day. PSCA has experienced unprecedented growth and has been in desperate need of additional space to expand programs and services. This facility allows us to grow and offer more art and cultural services to the residents and visitors of Grant County.

The inception of PSCA was driven by a profound commitment to enhancing our rural community.  By purchasing a dedicated facility, PSCA provides a platform for local artists, offers accessible arts education, and fosters a sense of community pride and identity. Furthermore, data that has been collected shows that permanent art centers in rural areas act as catalysts for tourism and economic growth, contributing to the sustainability and resilience of the community. PSCA, guided by its commitment and supported by compelling data, stands as a positive transformation of our rural community, recognizing the profound impact that arts and culture can have in Grant County.

We are also pleased to announce that the Oregon Legislature passed Senate Bill 5701 to appropriates funds to the Oregon Business Development Department for Oregon cultural organizations. PSCA was selected from the Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon as one of the vetted capital projects to receive Cultural Resource Economic Funds. As a result, PSCA will receive $500K towards the purchase of our building.

The Roundhouse Foundation, Oregon Community Foundation and Marie Lamfrom Foundation have also played pivotal roles in the realization of our vision by generously contributing a total of $250,000 towards the purchase of our facility. Additionally, we would have not been able to secure the building without Craft 3. The unwavering support and belief in our project from these organizations enabled PSCA to put the building in our name.
