Volunteer Coordinator

Position description: Round up existing volunteers and track these in one place. Recruit new volunteers. Attend monthly directors meeting and keep appraised on upcoming needs. Match skills and availability of volunteers with said needs. Regularly engage with volunteers and facilitate training or development where needed. Develop an incentive program for volunteers. Help resolve conflicts or personnel issues. Report monthly and/or annually on volunteer hours and accomplishments. Oversee annual volunteer thank you efforts.

Community Liaison

Position description: Make contacts with other entities and organizations across the community. Establish informal or formal partnerships. Attend board meetings for our partner organizations on Painted Sky Center for the Art's behalf, and relay minutes at our monthly director's meeting. Attend planning meetings for large community events we participate in; keep directors appraised. Work to streamline our efforts with ongoing community efforts underway, including city improvement projects.

Children's Programs

Our formal children's programming includes Arts After School, Friday Art Club, and Youth Arts Program. What we are looking for in a volunteer is someone who would like to come and do a craft or teach a creative skill to the students. The goal is to expose the children to as many art types or creativity possible.

If you are a high school student and would like to volunteer for your community service hours, please reach out! Please keep in mind that a background check is required before volunteering with the children.

Marketing Committee

Help promote Painted Sky Center for the Arts! Dedicated positions on the Marketing Committee available include:

  • Social media coordinator. Coordinate or contribute to daily posts. Implement schedule for engaging content.
  • Journalist(s) or photojournalist(s). Document events or achievements. Author news releases, social media posts, or content for newsletter.
  • Graphic design artist(s). Design flyers, adverts, logos, t-shirts, merchandising, newsletters, etc.
  • Media liaison. Research new avenues of promotion, craft and send weekly promotional emails to local media outlets. 
  • Large event marketing coordinator. Maintain master marketing schedule. Forecast marketing needs throughout year.
  • Contacts management. Organize contacts. Determine audiences we're missing. Help brainstorm innovative outreach approaches.
  • Web design. Help design or edit website to optimize use and click flow. Optimize web searches. Track web analytics.

Administrative

We always need help in this department! Some possible positions you can fill include:

  • Office staffing. Provide customer service, collect payments, facilitate classes, provide building lockup.
  • Clerical. Create miscellaneous forms, surveys, or tracking spreadsheets. Process or file turned in registration sheets or other forms. 
  • Website administration. Add or modify events and classes on website. Help folks register or process payments. Add or retrieve contacts. Send website-generated emails. Keep other information accurate and relevant.
  • Database management. Help track or compile information like demographics or customer survey responses in appropriate location for easy retrieval or reporting.
  • Documentation. Help draft or review Center policies, bylaws, or correspondence.

Literary Arts Committee

Interested in advancing a particular literary arts in our community? Passionate about literacy or teaching? Want to help entice authors or guest speakers to put on events in our area? Want to help kick off or promote a writer's guild, book club, or editors group? Join the Literary Arts Committee!

This committee welcomes folks particularly passionate about literary arts, and/or willing to provide fresh perspectives, spearhead new programs, or help generate events. Some areas we haven't yet explored and would love to have someone take on:

  • Poetry 
  • Children's reading 
  • Graphic novels
  • Journalism
  • Basic writing mechanics
  • Illustrations
  • Oral storytelling
  • Editing and revision
  • Publishing

Cultural Arts Comm.

Interested in advancing cultural history or cultural diversity in our community? Join the Cultural Arts Committee!

This committee welcomes folks passionate about showcasing the rich cultural history of our area. Did you know the Guernsey Building where we're located is one of the oldest in Canyon City? It'd be great to collect and  highlight all the rich history of S. Washington Street and surrounding areas.

We are also looking for folks enthusiastic about increasing the cultural diversity of our area. This could include bringing in Tribes or other nationalities to share traditional stories, teach traditional dances or music, cooking of ethnic foods, or other art forms. Have ideas or contacts?     Education Committee

    Interested in advancing career development or education opportunities in our community? Want to help coordinate accredited classes or an internship program? Want to work with local area schools to create or streamline art programs? Able to help train Center educators on special needs education, adult education, accessibility of our programs, art therapy and wellness, or other topics?

    Ceramic Arts Committee

    Interested in advancing ceramic arts in our community? Join the Ceramic Arts Committee!

    This committee welcomes folks passionate about pottery, sculpting, or other ceramic art types. We expect our pottery studio space to be available around May of 2020. We would love to have a functioning committee by then!

    Could you take on the planning efforts for one of our upcoming events? Have an idea for a new event or way to tie in with existing events?
